In most of the U.S., September and October are the busiest wedding months, followed by May and June. Busy months mean less vendor availability and fewer discounts. January through March is the quietest period, when many venues offer their lowest prices.
Spring (March–May)
- Pros: mild weather in much of the country, peonies, tulips and other spring flowers.
- Cons: rain risk; April and May dates fill quickly.
Summer (June–August)
- Pros: long evenings, school holidays for guests.
- Cons: heat and humidity in the South, hurricane season on the Gulf and Atlantic coasts from June 1; outdoor events need shade and water.
Fall (September–November)
- Pros: comfortable temperatures, fall colors, harvest menus.
- Cons: peak demand and peak prices in September and October.
Winter (December–February)
- Pros: lowest venue prices outside holidays, more vendor availability, cozy indoor styling.
- Cons: snow and travel delays in the North; holiday weekends cost more.
Day of the Week
Saturday is the most expensive day almost everywhere. Friday and Sunday events, and weekday weddings, are often priced lower; ask venues for their rate sheet by day.
